Phil Brewster

Mr. Brewster represents clients in False Claims Act whistleblower cases, SEC, transnational financial crimes and money laundering whistleblower cases and complex federal investigations. He has extensive experience in Federal and state qui tam cases, SEC Office of the Whistleblower cases, transnational financial crimes and money laundering whistleblower reward cases involving the U.S Treasury (FinCEN), Federal Reserve, National Security Council, US Department of Justice, FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, Commodities Futures Trading Commission, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, state Attorney Generals, and the UK Serious Fraud Office. Mr. Brewster has extensive experience representing whistleblowers in media matters, including coverage by The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, Guardian, NY Post, Miami Herald and Semafor, among many others. His work with whistleblowers has been profiled in “The Weight of the Whistle” in the Boston College Law School Magazine and spotlighted in the “Defending the Whistleblower” episode of the Illicit Edge’s Designated podcast.

Prior to founding the firm, Mr. Brewster served as corporate counsel to Optasia Medical, Ltd., a U.K.-based medical device company; North American corporate counsel to Brainlab AG, a German medical device company; and in-house counsel at Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, Inc., a publicly-traded U.S. electronic health records company. Mr. Brewster’s law firm experience includes associate positions at McGuireWoods LLP and Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP.

Mr. Brewster is a graduate of Boston College Law School (2003) and Syracuse University, B.A. history, summa cum laude (1999). He is licensed in Illinois and Massachusetts and admitted to the United States District Courts for Northern Illinois, Central Illinois, Colorado, District of Columbia and Massachusetts.

In his personal time, Mr. Brewster is a long time student of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He enjoys hunting and fly fishing in such varied places as Alaska, Georgia, Louisiana, Michigan, Montana, North Carolina, Ohio, New Mexico, Wyoming, and Zimbabwe. He is devoted to his english Labrador Retriever.
